Connection to DNR's SDE
- Copy the link below (Right mouse click on link) from menu select "Save Link As"
- DNRSDE as Zip Right Mouse click, save to local directory
- Extract Zip File DNR@UDNR@itdb104sp.dts.utah.gov.sde and
- Save to the following location
- If you have Windows 7 as your operating system
- C:\Users\(your name)\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop10.1\ArcCatalog
- If you have XP as your operating system
- C:\Users\(your name)\AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop10.1\ArcCatalog
- The DNR connection file allows you to view all DNR data from other divisions
- It should be noted that the AppData folder is most likely hidden by default.

In Windows 7, you can make it visible by going to Control Panel -> Folder Options, choosing the view tab, and enabling “Show hidden files, folders, and drives from the Hidden files and folders area.
Connection to State SGID
- Copy this SDE file found at M:\Training\ SGID10.sde
- To:
- XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\ESRI\Desktop10.1\ArcCatalog
- Windows 7: C:\Users\ YourUserName \AppData\Roaming\ESRI\Desktop10.1\ArcCatalog
- It should be noted that the AppData folder is most likely hidden by default.

Multi-scale Base Maps
AGRC provides several multi-scale base map service options that deliver pre-rendered base map tiles to your
ArcMap session as fast as your internet connection will allow. Base map native projected coordinate system is UTM Zone 12N, NAD83.
- In ArcMap, click the Add Data button
- At the top of the Add Data window, set the Look In pick list to: GIS Servers
- Select Add ArcGIS Server and then choose the Use GIS Services option
- Set the Internet Server URL to: http://mapserv.utah.gov/arcgis/services
- Click Finish and then double click the newly added item “arcgis on mapserv.utah.gov“
- Select the base map(s) of your choice from the list below:
- UtahBaseMap-Hillshade
- UtahBaseMap-Hybrid (streets and other vector layers atop imagery, )
- UtahBaseMap-Imagery
- UtahBaseMap-Lite (gray, muted tone)
- UtahBaseMap-Terrain (hillshade, streets, parks, forest, water, etc)
- UtahBaseMap-Topo (multiscale mosaic of USGS topo maps)
- UtahBaseMap-Vector (streets, land ownership, and boundaries)

Image Service
- From the Customize drop-down at the top of ArcMap
- Select Toolbars
- Scroll down to bottom and select Customize...
- Click the Commands tab
- Select the Image Server category and drag the Add Image Server Connection button on to the standard toolbar next to the yellow and black ‘Add Data’ button
- Close the Customize window and click on the Add Image Server Connection button.
- For Server Name, type in: image.agrc.utah.gov
- Browse the folders (see below) for an image service of your choice, click Add and then OK

Using Feature Services
- DNR REST Services page
- http://168.177.223.232/arcgis/rest/services
- To Use in ArcMap
- From ArcCatalog
- Select GIS Servers, Add GIS Server
- In Dialogue box select "Use GIS Services", click next
- Server URL http://168.177.223.232/arcgis/rest/services, User Name and Password are blank. Click Finish
- Connection should be in ArcCatalog as arcgis on 168.177.223.232 (user)
- Click on plus(+) to expand folders
- Map Services allow you to view features
- Features allow you to view features and table data
- CAVEAT: Only 1,000 features are usuable at a time. If you need more features use DNR SDE connection (DNR SDE)
